Junior Thespian Troupe 89745

While we consider all students who participate in Drama Club and Jr. Thespian activities Jr. Thespians, Induction in Troupe #89745 is a choice. Eligible students meet the following requirements:

● Any student in grade 6th - 8th that attends Scenic M.S. or Hanby M.S. and interested in developing personally in the craft of acting and/or technical theatre and has participated in a Drama Club production.

● Students can earn points for recognition by participating in D6 productions, Jr. Thespian Activities or other theatre organizations in the community.

● Oregon Thespian Events: The Jr. Thespians attend three annual Oregon Thespian events where we learn about, experience and share in community with young theatre artists from across the state of Oregon.

○ Fall: Instafest
○ Winter: Jr. Thespian Play Day
○ Spring: Jr. Thespian Day at the Oregon State Thespians Festival in Salem, Oregon

● “Let’s Go See A Show”: Jr. Thespians go on local field trips to see school and community theater productions. We have attended shows at Camelot Theatre, Collaborative Theatre Project, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Teen Musical Theatre of Oregon as well as at Southern Oregon University, Ashland Middle School, Crater High School, Grants Pass High School Ashland H.S. and South Medford High School. Our goal is to experience live theatre exposing our students to educational and professional theatre and build community.

● Community Service: The Jr. Thespian Troupe #89745 participates in the annual Sparrow Club event “Dancing with the Rogue Valley Stars” as ushers and ballot counters, and the Jr. Thespians Officers choose one more community service project for each year.

● Workshops: The Jr. Thespians are invited to participate in workshops throughout the year to further their skills and learn about the professional world of the Theatre.

Yes.

● Inducted members pay a one time fee of $40 for Membership Dues that includes your induction materials and an SMS Jr. Thespians T-shirt.

● Other costs are dependent upon the activities.
○ We provide fundraising opportunities for all Jr. Thespians to offset the cost of our activities and events. We will be doing fundraisers to offset the cost.
