Canvas Parent
Canvas is a Learning Management System, which is an online space for teachers to create, organize, deliver, and manage their courses. The platform also supports student-to-student and student-to-teacher communication and collaboration. Parents and guardians have the ability to access much of which is included in their children’s Canvas courses.
NOTE: While Canvas includes a grade book, it is not the official or complete CPSD6 grade book. Instead, the grade book of record is available via the Grade Book tab in Parent Portal and ParentVue.

Parent Log In Using Brower
Parents can sign up as an observer in Canvas. Observers can link their Canvas account to their student’s account so they can see assignment dues dates, announcements, and other course content. Observers can view the course content but cannot participate in the course.

- First you will need to get a student pairing code which is required to become an observer. The student will need to login to their Canvas account and select Account and then settings. (see screenshot 1 below)
- Then click account > settings and then click the pair with observer button. Copy down the code to use in the next step. (see screenshot 2 below)
- To sign up as an observer in Canvas first navigate to this url: https://district6.instructure.com/login/canvas
- Click on the link to create an account (see screenshot 4 below). Fill out all the fields and student pairing code you got from the last step.
*Please note if you were an observer last year you will need to create a new account due to a change with our Canvas this year.

- Select “Crater High School – Parents”
- Click create account and fill out the form with the student pairing code you got in step 2.

Canvas Student Orientation
If you are a student who hasn’t used Canvas before you can enroll in the Canvas orientation course. This course will guide you through the things you need to know to use Canvas. Freshman are enrolled in the course at the beginning of the year, but any freshman who join later or students who are new and not freshman will need to self enroll in this course.
To enroll in the course click this link: https://district6.instructure.com/enroll/HMMTNC. Then once the links opens click enroll in course button.
Using Computer Browser for Student Canvas Login
- If not using a Chromebook the Google Chrome browser is recommended as we use many Google apps.
- Go to https://district6.instructure.com/ using a browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc)
- If you are already logged into Google (this is automatic with a Chromebook) you will be signed into Canvas automatically.
- If you aren’t signed into Google you will be asked for your email (lastname+studentnumber@district6.org) and your password (same as what you use to login to your Chromebook).
- If you forgot your password go to the library and request a password reset from the staff there.
- If you get an incorrect password error please double check you typed your password correctly and try again.

Click Find my school and search for “Crater” to find our schools
If you search the word crater you can select Crater BIS, Crater CAHPS, or Crater CRA
Now you enter your email and then your password (same as Chromebook login)
Google Classroom
Google Classroom is a set of online tools that allows teachers to create lessons, collect student work, grade, and return graded papers. Google Classroom is a learning management system (LMS) that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments and engaging students in learning online or remotely.
NOTE: While Google Classroom includes a grade book, it is not the official or complete CPSD6 grade book. Instead, the grade book of record is available via the Grade Book tab in Parent Portal and ParentVue.

ParentSquare
We use ParentSquare to communicate with parents. ParentSquare is designed to keep parents informed and facilitate participation at school. It provides a safe way for the school principal, teachers, staff, and parents/guardians to:
- Send and receive alerts quickly
- Send and receive school and class information
- Share pictures and files
- See calendar items
- Sign up to volunteer
- and much more . . . all in one centralized place!

Activate Your Account
- Visit https://www.parentsquare.com/signin
- Under Sign Up/Create Password, enter Email or Cell Phone Number. You must use the same email/phone you provided to your school.
- Click Go.
- If the email/phone matches the information in ParentSquare, you will receive an account activation email/text to register. If not contact your student’s school so they can check your information.

ParentVUE
ParentVUE is a web portal that allows parents and guardians access to near real-time information on attendance, class schedules, class websites, course history, grade book, report cards and more.
Both ParentVUE and StudentVUE can be accessed from any Internet-connected device with a current web browser. Apps for both iOS and Android smartphones are also available.
ParentVUE is also used on an annual basis during the start of each school year to verify student enrollment information.

Activate your ParentVUE Account
Follow these steps to activate YOUR ParentVUE account for the first time:
- Contact the school your student will be attending to obtain an activation key.
- Open an Internet browser.
- Click on the link or enter the following into your browser: https://or-cen-psv.edupoint.com
- Click on “I am a parent”
- On the following page, click on the “Activate My Account” link.
- In the next screen, enter your first name, last name, and activation key. (Note: Activation key needs to be entered exactly as it appears.)
- Click on the “Go to Step 2″ button.
- The system will prompt you to select your own username and password. The password must have a minimum of 6 characters and can consist of numbers and letters.
- Also, enter your primary e-mail address. This address will be used to recover your password if you lose it.
- Click on “Complete Account Activation” to finish setting up the account.
